From the 1st until the 15th of September, I will work on the rkn-fgyrator as part of the residency programme in Atelierhaus Salzamt, Linz.
The project I am currently working on involves creating interactive structures that dynamically reshape according to the saturation of the EM environment, more specifically, WiFi signals. It will at the same time enclose the visitors in some way, and represent the current state of the Wireless network. This mechanical structure will be constructed from motors and rods/surfaces with changeable length and angles.
A network is set up for the project. All traffic that goes through this network is scanned, using network security tools. This information is parsed by different criteria, that will include it into parameters for movement of different motors.
Reconfigurator uses WiFi in the design, as a parameter in the shaping of its structure. The structure is meant to test the impact of the awareness of wireless networks and is meant to interact with visitors usage of the ‘netz’.
